Australis Figures

Collectible figure studio · Buenos Aires

We make figuresyou collectand paint from.

Australis Figures is a studio in Buenos Aires. Every edition is built around one specific painting technique, and the sculpt is designed to show that technique off: the figure is a collectible object and a workshop reference at the same time.

Who makes it

Two people, in Buenos Aires.

Australis started because we wanted a studio like this to exist and could not find one. Today the whole path runs through the same place: concept, digital sculpting, printing, post-processing and painting.

We are 3D printed and we say so plainly: there is nothing to hide when post-processing and finishing are done by hand, piece by piece. That limits how many figures leave here in a year, and it is why the runs are short.

Arc I · The Shattered Crown — Heroes Arc

5 pieces, one story.

An arc is a group of figures sharing a world, a scale and a painting standard. They are released one at a time, in the order they are finished.

Every print carries its run number inside the SKU and on the certificate of authenticity, together with the arc, the model, the production year and the founders’ signatures.

And the reprint policy, said plainly

Runs are limited in quantity, not in lifetime. A model is only reprinted if the previous run sold out, if twelve months have passed since that sellout, and if there is genuine demand. Each new run carries a new year in its SKU, which makes it a distinct piece from the one before. This is disclosed publicly and up front: transparency is the policy.

The technique of this piece

Metal without metallics

The shine is painted, not applied: cold greys, a false horizon and a pure white placed exactly where it belongs. This is the technique that separates painted armour from well-painted armour.

The technique is chosen before the sculpting starts, and the sculpt is then designed to show that technique off: where to put a large flat surface, where to place a light source, where to leave cloth to blend. Never the other way round.

That is why every piece in the arc has its own assigned technique, and why the arc reads as a syllabus rather than as a series of similar figures.
